The Chevrolet L-72 big-block 427 V8 has always been a highly sought after engine among collectors. This was the engine of choice for Yenko and is the engine that powered the legendary COPO Camaros and COPO Chevelles. In 1969, the L72 427 was an non-advertised option for full size Chevrolets and was not offered in the Camaro or Chevelles outside of the COPO programs. This very original 1969 Impala 427SS is 1 of 546 full-size Chevrolet's in 1969 to receive the legendary L-72 425HP 427 V8. The original block was replaced under warranty by a correct 3963512 casting number block. The engine retains a correct "Winters" intake and 4346 identification number 780 CFM Holley carburetor. Transferring the power to the correct 12 bolt positrac rearend is this Impala's numbers matching Turbohydramatic 400 automatic transmission. Both the engine and transmission perform flawlessly. The L-72 427 cubic inch V8 is extremely tight and effortlessly pulls this full-size car down the street. The exterior is finished in its factory correct LeMans Blue. The car was repainted around 1984 and is starting to show its age. The body of this Impala is excellent and still retains all of its original sheet metal with no signs of body work anywhere on this great car. The exterior is complimented nicely by its correct "427" and "SS" badges, factory steelies with dog dish hubcaps, and redline poliglass tires. The black vinyl interior appears to be very original and is in excellent shape with the only defect of note being a split seam in the headliner. This Impala is very well equipped with factory options such as: rear window defroster, 3.31 axle ratio positraction rearend, electric clock, factory 8-track player, AM Stereo, shoulder belts and power front disc brakes. This rare Impala SS is very well documented and still retains much of its original documentation including: original window sticker, original owners manual, 2 build sheets, original premium gas fill tag, original dealer inspection sheet, complete ownership history, and original Chevrolet-Delco stereo tape system operation manual.
